My name is Rachael and this blog is for homeschoolers in the Omaha area to see if we can connect for educational field trips. If you're interested in what we are studying and want to join with us for a week, just leave a comment and I'll tell you the time and place we are meeting. Usually we do something on Friday that finishes something we've been studying this week. My kids are 8,7,4,2,0, so we gear toward early elementary activities.
I have been homeschooling for about 8 years now, as my oldest is 8. He did a short 2 month stint in preschool (not even the whole semester!), but it just didn't feel right and I've never looked back.
Now I have a 2nd and 1st grader, a 4 yr old preschooler, a 2 yr old and a baby. We take a fairly flexible approach and I try to focus on making educational experiences connect to real life.
People often ask me why I decided to home school. While there are many reasons (and I find more everyday), my main reasons are pretty simple: I cringe at the thought of joining the rat race everyone else seems to think is normal, and I love the safe environment I can provide for them at home. Homeschooling allows us to live life at a slower, more relaxed pace. There's no greater joy I get than seeing my children interact in positive ways and learn from each other.
I am very excited to be able to watch my children learn and grow first hand and to experience the joys of their successes. This blog is for other home schoolers in our area that would like to connect and share educational experiences.
